Easter holidays 2024 are on the early side this year, so fingers crossed for some spring sun. Although we’ve found you some great UK days out, that aren’t too weather dependent, just in case.

The Royal Cornwall Museum has a brand new interactive exhibition exploring the world of automata.

The Marvellous Mechanical Museum launches during the Easter holidays 2024 with a blend of art, science, engineering incorporated into 30 pieces of kinetic sculpture.

With eclectic subjects like cats, sailors, the jungle, biodiversity, a skiing dog, and even a monkey in a banana boat, inquisitive minds will love this collection of miniature moving worlds.

Don’t miss the epic ‘Gormenghast’ installation, inspired by Mervyn Peake’s fantasy novels.

We’re not scared! We’re Going on a Bear Hunt has a new angle for the Easter holidays 2024, with a larger-than-life trail at Bristol Zoo Project, where you can swish, splash and squelch your way through the scenes from the book, to find a real-life bear. Award-winning animation and interactive installations bring the adored book to life, only this bear won’t follow you home!

Visit the Horniman Spring Fair during Easter holiday 2024

With music, craft workshops including woodwork, seed planting, circus skills, traditional fete games, bubbles and an Easter bonnet parade, the Horniman Spring Fair is going all out on Easter Saturday.

Bop around at Lord Nutty’s Spring Time Disco, tap your toes to Mrs H and the Singalong Band, then meet the alpacas, goats and rabbits on an animal walk.

The Butterfly House is offering discounted prices for visits during the fair, so you can get all a-flutter. Plus there’s an impressive array of food stalls on offer.

The Blenheim Palace Easter Egg-stravaganza

Head to Blenheim Palace for an Easter Eggstravaganza

Blenheim Palace have a full weekend of fun planned for the Easter holidays 2024. Easter Eggstravaganza is set to take over the Walled Garden from Good Friday and kids can have a go at circus skills and balloon modelling,  watch bubble performances and catch a vintage variety show.

Egg hunts, a dress-up tent, face painting and fairground rides are on the schedule too. And the Easter Bunny, will be making guest appearances throughout the weekend too.

The Easter Adventure Quest on Isle of Wight

Osborne House, renamed Osborne in keeping with the new vogue of stately home monikers, has an egg hunt elevated to the lofty heights of Adventure Quest this Easter.

Hunt for clues in the grounds, track down the Easter eggs and get rewarded with a tasty chocolate treat. You know (and kids love) the drill by now!

Also happening during the Easter holidays 2024, the Big Brick Build invites families to take part in creating s Lego statue of Queen Victoria, which we think she would be amused by.

Head to Eden this Easter for a foodtastic family day out

Easter Springfest is foodtastic fun at The Eden Project

The Eden Project’s Easter Springfest is all about food this year. Themed challenges, a chocolate trail and a pop-up market are among a packed activity programme awaiting guests. Compete in milk bottle skittles, try some hoopla and follow the journey of food, from field-to-fork, with buzz wires.

There’s also an egg-themed scavenger hunt, as well as a labyrinth-style game exploring different diets. And under-fives have their own play zone where they can join a spin-a-dinner game, play on a bread-themed scooter track or dress up in their own mini shop or stall.

Experience a bold new production of Romeo and Juliet set in 2024, as part of the Playing Shakespeare school’s project at the Globe Theatre, London.

This is a fast-paced, 90-minute version has been specially curated for a younger generation and it’s a great introduction to the Bard for teenagers this Easter.

Be a little ripper with Easter surf lessons at the Wave

Little Rippers, a surf school that even 4-year-olds can get on board (pun intended) with, is happening at the Wave in Bristol during the Easter holidays.

The 90 minute sessions include dryland coaching, followed by an hour in the water with parents, to help children gain confidence. There’s also a Secret Surfers Easter Trail, where children can follow a trail around The Wave site, find the hidden letters to spell out the code word and claim a prize.

Become part of a master builder project at Stonehenge this Easter

Build bricks at Stonehenge during Easter holidays 2024

LEGO® bricks are returning to Stonehenge for The Big Brick Build this Easter, where the task is to assemble a mosaic of Stonehenge.

Head to the visitors’ marquee for a section of mosaic to complete, then master builders will add it to a giant picture of the most famous prehistoric building project in the world.

LEGO® fact: the horizontal lintel stones at Stonehenge are held onto the giant upright sarsens using a ‘mortice and tenon’ joint which is also how LEGO® bricks connect. Pagan fact: Easter is linked to the springtime goddess Eostre, who was celebrated during the spring Equinox.

Bear Snores On is being staged at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre during the Easter holidays, so grab your backpack and join Mouse on a magical theatrical journey as she finds fun, courage and a whole bunch of new animal friends.

This new theatrical experience for families takes you from the theatre lawn to an indoor pop up space in the grounds.
